National Poetry Month can now be fully celebrated, for I have received a wonderful gift: a poem written just for me!
Christi, My Writing Coach
by Larry Logan
When with her, I see ordinary things
Real things
Trees that are green and brown trees
Sliced apples for a snack
Fog drifting on the field
Drowsy cows wake up
Laughing is simple and so are shoes
(Except tying them)
Ornate clip-on earrings that Grandma wore
She is gone now
Words jingle on lovely paper
A round table with chairs that squeak
when I lean back
Show don't tell
Watch the landing
Write a poem for a teacher, mentor or friend.
