Pet Words

One of my pet words.

I love the smallness of it, and its compact frame. I love to keep it with me and show it off to everyone, but I realize not everything can be tiny. It starts to lose its meaning after so much attention. I'm not stretching myself, making friends with any new words or using other possibilities. Instead of saying "tiny," I can show the robin eggshell, and how it fits within the wrinkled pocket of my upturned palm. I can show the bigness of everything around it. It would take some work and some care, but writing is worth it.

What is your pet word? Go ahead, take a careful look, and get some feedback from a reader if you like. In the end, the little guy is much happier running free.
